As I understand it all, yes you should do both.  The first sets stuff up, and 
the second tests that it's all correct and working.
However, :-) I'm sloooowly working on the same task and have been unsuccessful 
so far. :-(  Your instructions look about the same as mine, so I assume we're 
looking at the same doc.  But as I already have 1 real SCSI CD, I'm not in a 
big hurry, but it would be nice to get my IDE based CDRW working. :-)
