I'm having problems getting XFree86 4.0 to work on a Cirrus
CL-GD5465 chip. startx fails with this cryptic error:
xf86MapPciMem: Could not mmap PCI memory
[base=0xe4000000,hostbase=0xe4000000,size=0] (No such file or
directory)
I ran XFree86 -configure, which generates a new XF86Config
file. I get the error when testing the new server with
'XFree86 -xf86config /root/XF86Config.new'.
I've read just about every man page for XFree 4.0 and the docs
on http://www.xfree86.org and I just don't see what could be
wrong.
I submitted a bug report to XFree but I don't know if this
truly is a bug or a "user" error. :)
I have successfully installed XFree86 4.0 on my other computer
(with a S3ViRGE chip) and it works fine. Version 3.3.6 works
for me on Cirrus chip as well.
Any suggestions to get this Cirrus chip running X 4.0 ???
